SHM can be seen throughout nature. A simple pendulum is one common example of a system undergoing SHM, for small amplitude. In fact, any linear system which has mass and elasticity executes SHM when vibrating freely. Close approximations to SHM is useful in engineering. It help us understand well about striking of guitar string, vibration of nucleus in a atom, tuning radio channel etc.
